Lent is on the way!

Wow, I cannot believe we are only a short time from the beginning of Lent! This year, Shrove Tuesday/ St. David’s Day/ Mardi Gras falls on Tuesday, March 1. The Season of Lent begins on March 2 (Ash Wednesday) and ends when the sun goes down on April 16 (Holy Saturday). Save the date for Easter, which will be on Sunday, April 17. It will be an awesome day of celebration as we praise God that Christ is risen from the dead! You will not want to miss it. I thought it might be good for me to let you know what I know about all of our Lenten season events, so here goes!

Sunday, February 27: You can pick up your Lenten daily devotional book, Journey to the Cross, at church.

Tuesday, March 1: Celebrate the last day before you begin your Lenten fast with a pancake supper in the Fellowship Hall at 6 pm

Wednesday, March 2: Join us for two opportunities to worship. 11 am – 12 pm: I am offering a Drive Thru Impartation of the Ashes. 5:45 pm: Salad Bar in the Fellowship Hall. 7 pm: A 30 minute Ash Wednesday service in the Sanctuary.

Friday, March 18, Monday, March 21: – Pictorial Directory Photos will be taken. While not directly connected to Lent, look for more information soon. You will be contacted to sign up.

Sunday, April 10: Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week!

Monday, April 11 – Friday, April 15: Holy Week Noonday Services will be at White Bluff. This year, we will begin with a 30 minute service in the Sanctuary at 12 pm followed by a soup and sandwich lunch in Horton Hall. Each day’s service will feature a hymn, solo, and message. Friday will be a “Service of the Nails”, bringing us into a time of tenebrae.
